A few tips that I have learned along the way to run a business...

So, this past Saturday, I had a little downtime and I shared a few tips on Instagram. A few of you don't follow me on Instagram so I decided to share a few tips for my blog viewers. Keep in mind this is not everything. Its just a few things that I have learned.

  1. Its so important to "Run your Business"! I say this to my friends all the time and to sum it up, it just means to mind your own business. Run your business, not someone elses.
  2. Operate your business from the standpoint of it not being built on support from those you know. If you operate your business and expect your successes to be based on family and friends, you are most likely going to be disappointed.
  3. Look for other ways to take credit cards besides paypal. People have no idea how many sales they loose because they only take paypal.
  4. Do your do diligence before asking for help. There are too many free tools out here for you to expect someone to hold your hand through opening your business.
  5. BE YOURSELF. People want authenticity.
  6. READ. Reading your way to the top, is a phrase I use all the time. Reading will take you far.
  7. If you are an ecommerce online store, choose your platform wisely. My favorite is shopify. Click here if you want to check them out. They are awesome.
  8. My fave merchant service providers are: Shopify Merchant Services, First Data, Elavon, Stripe, and Square.
  9. Keep great accounting records.
Thank you babes, for supporting my blog by reading this. Hope these few tips help you.

I Save $20 a day.

Someone asked me about starting a business and what it took and how I did it. Well I will say this. I started with almost nothing. That is the worst mistake I ever made in my business and I encourage you all to learn from my mistake. One day I woke up and was looking at my bank account statement. I saw I had so many deposits that I had lost count, almost like $12000 in one month but I had no money saved. I was spending as soon as I got it. That day I decided to save $20 minimum a day. I'm OCD, so I increased it for myself to $20 per day, per account that I have. I chose $20 because I noticed I was spending $20 on coffee and a snack everyday. Every person I can reach, I encourage you to save money.  $20 a day for 365 days is $7300 per year. In 24 months you can have a nice starter cushion. Here is a great article on saving money. Happy Monday baby dolls.

The Importance of a Schedule

Man, today I had the most amazing day. Today I started a new schedule that I kept hearing one of my favs, Myliek Teele, CEO of CurlBox talk about. She always talks about a schedule and a to do list. Today, I got back in the grove of both. Started my day at 5am. The tricky part about getting up at 5am is going to bed on time.  I found this cool bedtime calculator . I'm going to stick with this schedule.

5am awake and prayer
6am workout
7am Breakfast
730 Shower
830 headed to the office
930 return email and calls
10-12 marketing brainstorms
12-1 workout/prayer
1-5 website work
6-7 research
8 make dinner
10 sleep
